James Jacob Pires Sr., 79, of Waipahu, a painter at Hawaiian Dredging Co. and an Army veteran, died in Castle Medical Center inKailua. He was born in Kula, Maui. He is survived by wife Mary Jacintho, sons James J. Jr. and Stanley, daughter Theresa M., brother Moses and sister Julia P. Duarte. Visitation:9 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
