Gemma Pasquini Galati
GEMMA PASQUINI GALATI Gemma Pasquini Galati, 84, died peacefully on March 20, 2013 in Honolulu. Gemma was born August 2, 1928, in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Eustachio and Maria Pasquini. Gemma graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1946 and met Nick Galati a few years later. In 1952, Gemma and Nick were married. They soon moved to Bradford, PA with their young family. In addition to raising three children, Gemma owned and operated GiGi, a women's clothing store. Family and friends were Gemma's passion and delight. She was a great cook and loved to entertain, and frequently hosted parties that everyone enjoyed. Gemma and Nick moved to Hawaii in 1988. She became a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic minister for many years. She was an active volunteer and fundraiser for Project Respect and a member of the Malia Hoku O Ke Kai Senior Hula Halau. Her faith and God's love guided her life. Gemma was a creative and inquisitive person whose interests and talents ranged from art to computers. She created portraits and still life paintings in both watercolors and acrylics, and was an avid Mac user. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, playing cards and board games. In May of 2006, she moved to Kahala Nui and was active and involved in the community. She enjoyed her many friends. Gemma was predeceased by her husband Nick and daughter Marisa. She is survived by her son Vito, daughter in law Rayna, and granddaughter Allie of Honolulu; and daughter Jai and grandson Nick Fenjves of Pacific Palisades, CA. She also leaves behind many loving relatives and friends. There will be a memorial mass at Star of the Sea Church, 4470 Aliikoa Street on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:00am. A reception will follow at the Star of the Sea Activity Room. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Legacy of Life Hawaii, 405 N. Kuakini Street, Suite 801, Honolulu, HI 96817
