SETSUKO KAWASHIRI SPECK Age 84, of Honolulu, a retired Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation administrative assistant, died in Hawaii Kai on May 21. She was a strong, gracious and intelligent woman who lived life on her own terms despite a 28-year progressive case of Parkinson's. She was born in 1929 in San Pedro, CA. Setsuko was preceded in death by her husband, Bob. She is survived by four children, Susan Speck Fabrocini (Joey) of Reseda, CA; Margaret Speck Ogawa (Patrick) of Mercer Island, WA; Robert J. Speck III (Louise) of Wilmette, IL; and William R. Speck (Maria) of Honolulu; two brothers, Shigeru and Yu Kawashiri ; three sisters, Hideko Shono , Yuriko Omatsu and Chiyo Endo; and eight grandchildren. A mass was held Tuesday, June 4 at Holy Trinity Church. Setsuko is buried at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe.
