James Daniel "Chester" McKalvia, 72, of Kailua-Kona, a painter, died in Kona Community Hospital. He was born in Wahiawa. He is survived by son Darren; daughters Cheryl and Shirlene McKalvia, and Jaime Lee; and eight grandchildren. Private services.
