JACQUELINE KATHEJACQUELINE KATHE Jacqueline "Jackie" Kathe, 88, died August 2, 2013 at The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu. Jackie Kathe was born July 27, 1925 in Shanghai, China to Joseph and Laura (Hansen) Flannery. She attended the Shanghai American School. From January 1942 to liberation in February 1945, Jackie and her parents were prisoners of war at Santo Tomas Internment Camp in Manila, The Philippines. After World War II, Jackie attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. Jackie returned to China and worked for the Economic Cooperation Administration. In Tianjin, China, she met her husband of 49 years, Raymund A. Kathe of Citibank whom she married in Hong Kong in 1950. Over the next 34 years, Ray and Jackie lived in Tokyo, Nagoya, Yokohama, Hong Kong, New York City, and Wilton, CT. In 1985, Jackie and Ray retired to Honolulu. Jackie lived at Arcadia Retirement Residence since 2009. Jackie was an active member of each community in which she lived. In Honolulu, she was a member of Sacred Heart Parish (Punahou), the Pacific Club, Friends of the East-West Center, Japan America Society, and the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Ray, and grandson Jamie. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Madeline Kathe of Concord, MA; daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and T.J. Hughes of Wellesley, MA; daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Tom Donatelli of Upper Montclair, NJ; grandchildren, Jon and Andrew of Concord, MA, Patrick Hughes (Katie) of Alexandria, VA, Gregory Hughes of Venice, CA, Katie Hughes of Santa Clara, CA, and Olivia and Isabelle Donatelli of Upper Montclair, NJ.
