ARLENE M. (MINATOYA) “KITTY” WATANABEARLENE M. (MINATOYA) KITTY WATANABE Born Pasco, WA on 4/16/36 & passed at home on 8/4/13 in Kihei, Maui with family. "Kitty" grew up in Pasco, 3rd child of 5 born to Kahn & Chiyoko Minatoya. Family call her Machi, the most daring, forward thinking, hip & modern spirit of the family. As an RN she spent 9 years at Good Samaritan, Portland, OR & began her 27 yr career at Queens as an OR nurse in 1978. She helped develop the Endoscopy Dept. & ended her career as a head RN for the Neurosurgical team before retiring in 2005. Kitty spent her life caring for others & giving back. 3rd generation Japanese from an era of strong backboned & hard working women, her legacy will be one that touched many lives & set a path for those to follow. Left behind are daughter Diane Pool & Tae Murphy, grandsons: Chris Pool & Guy Watanabe, Jr, Kihei, Maui; d-in-law: Maria Watanabe, San Diego, CA; sisters: Jean Kozawa, Portland, OR, Brenda Kupfer (Mike), Kennewick, WA; Aunt Mary Munekiyo (104 yr), Kennewick, WA; adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, & special friends Robert & Magdalena Simon, Portland, OR. Celebration of Life at Valley of the Temples Chapel (left on top hill) 8/26/13 Visitation 11a, Service 12p, Lunch 1-3p.
