Nobuyo Hirata KandaNOBUYO HIRATA KANDA Died on August 16, 2013 at the age of 96. She was born in Honolulu and moved to Pahala on the Big Island after she got married. She owned and managed the Kanda Store and Gift Shop in Pahala for 30 years before moving back to Honolulu with her husband in 1970. She then worked at Sears at the Ala Moana Shopping Center until her retirement in 1997 on her 80th birthday. She loved to travel all over the world, play golf, and test her skill at blackjack in Las Vegas. Nobuyo Kanda is survived by daughters Lynette "Ko" (Glenn) Miyataki and Diane "Didi" (Wayne) Iwaoka; son Neal (Lynette Lo) Kanda; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Minoru Kanda. Private services were held on August 25, 2013.
