Herbert "Joe" Irvin, 76, of Kailua, a retired Navy chief petty officer and a sport fishing charter boat captain, died in Tripler Army Medical Center. He was born in Hartselle, Ala. He is survived by wife Carolyn, son Paul, daughters Jenny Miller and Michelle Ofield, sisters Martha West and Ruby Maples, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Private services.
