FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

SHIMEI HAYASHI
SHIMEI HAYASHI Shimei Hayashi, born on February 2, 1921, at Waimea, Kauai, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2013 at his home in Ft. Collins, Colorado while being cared for along with his wife, Dorothy by his son Shannon and his family. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, sons, Shannon (Yvonne) Hayashi and Dwight (Linda) Hayashi, 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Yuri Takazawa, of Honolulu, Hawaii. Shimei was a pioneer in the field of Special Education and had his students at Pohukaina School participate in the first Special Olympics organized by Eunice Shriver. He also co-authored a comprehensive guide for educators in Special Education. He will be resting at Nuuanu Memorial Park.
