EVELYN AIKO NAKAMOTO HANATANIEVELYN AIKO NAKAMOTO HANATANI OCTOBER 6, 2013 Evelyn Aiko Nakamoto Hanatani, 98, of Waianae, retired proprietor of Lualualei Orchids & Flowers, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, October 6. She was born in Kealakekua on the Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, where her family grew coffee. She was the middle child of three children. Her family moved to Honolulu in 1920. She married Charles Hanatani, a construction engineer, and had two children. While working at Libby's cannery, she held positions that were not typically assigned to women at that time, such as testing in the quality control lab, as the syrup blender and as the crush machine operator. She was known in the flower business as a person of high integrity and good business dealings and was a founder of the Waianae Golden Age Sr. Citizens Club, where she served as President for many years. She was predeceased by son Gary and survived by daughter, Susan Dole, son-in-law, Richard Dole, and cousins, nieces and nephews.
