MIRIAM OHTA KOBAYASHIMIRIAM OHTA KOBAYASHI (Age 87) On Saturday January 11, 2014 of Springfield, Virginia. Devoted mother of Larry (Kimberly,) Robert and Neal (Karen). Loving grandmother of Rebecca, Jennifer (Zachary), Nathan, Anya, Gregory and Aaron. Mrs. Kobayashi was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and received her BA in English from the Pacific Union College in California. As the wife of a US Foreign Service diplomat, she raised her family in Pakistan, Colombia, Okinawa, and Tokyo, Japan. In her later years, she worked for over 16 years as an executive secretary for the National Science Foundation in Washington D.C., but her true love was teaching English which she did in Hawaii, Okinawa and as an "English as a Second Language" volunteer up until her death. She loved gardening and cultivating roses in particular, and always had impeccable taste in dress. She was always an unobtrusive but unmistakable presence in her sons' and grandkids' lives and will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held on 8 February in Springfield, Virginia, and a private family dinner celebrating her life will be held in March in Honolulu, Hawaii, prior to her being interred at Nuuanu Memorial Park.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
