2-2 597541 Charleta FreitasCHARLETA CHARLIE PRYDE FREITAS Charleta "Charlie Pryde" Freitas passed away December 13, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Charlie was born in Detroit, Michigan and attended St. Gregory High School there before studying journalism at Michigan State University. After school, she started her own talk show, Detroit Today, leaving the show to work for Congressman John Conyers as his press secretary. She worked for Mohammad Ali Professional Sports and Cronk boxing, specializing in booking fight venues and preparing fighters for press conferences. During a vacation to Hawaii, she fell in love with the islands and became a long time kamaaina. There she worked as a entertainment consultant, representing Kapena, Kahanu Records, Simplicity, and Three Scoops of Aloha, among others. She also worked with KCCN radio as a writer and advertiser. She was a strong supporter of the Literacy Volunteers of America all the years she spent on Oahu. In 1987, on October 1, she married Bernard Freitas. She has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for twelve years. She and Bernard moved to Las Vegas in August 2012. Charlie is survived by her loving husband, Bernard Freitas and other family.
