EVERETTE "TONY" FLANDERSEVERETTE TONY FLANDERS Passed Away on January 20th, 2014 at his home in Mililani. He was 90 years old. Born on May 27, 1923 in Wellman, Iowa to Henry and Mary Flanders. A long time resident of Kailua, Oahu, Tony, along with his wife Frances, left the islands for Austin, Texas in 1991. Because of their love for the islands they returned in 2000 to live out their years in Mililani. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp's, he served in combat as a B-24 pilot in Europe during World War II. After the war he received his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and then became an engineer with the Army Corp's of Engineers who he worked for until retirement. In his free time, he was a member of the Kailua ELKS, attaining the position of Exalted Ruler. He is survived by his four children, son Michael (Eden) Flanders, daughter Mary (Ken) Teague, daughter Anne (Gary) Battles and son Richard Flanders; three grandchildren and five great-grand children. Visitation: 9:15 - 9:45 a.m. Monday at Saint John Apostle and Evangelist Church 95-370 Kuahelani Avenue in Mililani. Mass is at 10:00 a.m. Burial 1:00 p.m. at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe.
