Chief Warrant Officer 2 Edward Balli
2-7 600632  Edward BalliChief Warrant Officer 2 EDWARD BALLI 42, was killed in action in southern Afghanistan on January 20th, 2014. Edward was born and raised in Salinas, California, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop 2d Cavalry Regiment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and whose home was in Kapolei, Hawaii. Edward was recognized for his unwavering commitment to his country by working his way up as non-commissioned officer to Warrant Officer. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Star Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserves Overseas Training Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge and Basic Aviator Badge. His fellow Soldiers described Edward as an outstanding leader of Soldiers. He was a person with a kind heart and smile that aimed to please those who he worked for and with. He was a very motivated person who loved his job as an Unmanned Aerial System Operations Officer Platoon Leader, providing the eyes in the sky for those soldiers on the ground. He is survived by his wife, Kristy Balli, stepdaughters, Desirae Abrera, Momilani Morales and stepson, Michael Donios; mother, Catherine "Katie" Trevino, brothers, Ruben Balli and Robert Balli, Jr., sisters, Sarah Balli and Ofelia Lopez; stepgrandchildren, Ikaia and Audrie Donios. Visitation: 9 a.m, today at Schofield Barracks Main Post Chapel followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial: 1 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
