Lawrence Kalani Wilcox "Larry" Smith Jr., 79, a retired Honolulu Fire Department firefighter and fireboat captain, commercial fisherman, salvage diver and a Coast Guard veteran, died at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Gail, sons Lawrence K.W. III and Kaipo K.S., daughters Lavon D. Smith Pinto and Lynn M. Benioni, brother Edward, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation: 3 p.m. Feb. 23 at Kawaiaha'o Church. Services: 3:30 p.m. Aloha attire.
