James Philip "Dr. Phil" McLaren, 72, of Waikoloa, Hawaii, a biology professor, died. He was born in Los Angeles. He is survived by wife Lynne; daughters Reilly and Lark Ellen McLaren, and Merry Smith; hanai daughter Linda Hoover; brother David; and three grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Waikoloa Community Church.
