Betty K. L. YuenBETTY K. L. YUEN 89, passed away on January 12, 2014. She was born May 24, 1924 and was the second oldest of five children of Samuel and Alice Fong of Honolulu. In 1944 she married Walter F. Yuen, who predeceased her in 1991. She retired from Theo H. Davis as a shipping clerk and was on call at Kahala Macy's. She was very talented working with her hands such as knitting, crocheting, sewing and quilting. She sewed everything from shirts, blouses and even her daughters' wedding gowns. She was very creative in adding unique touches to her clothes, too. Betty was exceptionally generous who always gave money, jewelry and things she made to her love ones. She cherished her family and her greatest joy was family gatherings to share in laughter, playing games and the family eating her famous beef stew and rum cake. She really looked forward to having her morning coffee with her "Kahala McDonalds gang" and Monday mornings with her knitting friends. She treasured her trips to Las Vegas and actually hit a couple of jackpots. She is survived by companion Masaru Akamatsu, sons Walter Jr. (Vickie), Nelson (Myra), daughters Beverly Nomi (Nelson), Shareen Sato (Gilford), twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. We will miss her deeply. Private services were held.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
