Harry Iwao MiyashiroHARRY IWA IWAO MIYASHIRO April 17, 1934 - Feb 14, 2014 Harry Iwao Miyashiro, 79, of Honolulu, Hawaii peacefully passed at his Kalihi Valley home on February 14, 2014. He was born on April 17, 1934 in Nuuanu and was the 10th child of 12 for Chiushichi and Kame Miyashiro. As a youngster he worked as a shoeshine boy in downtown, a paper-boy and a caddy at Oahu Country Club. Harry graduated from McKinley High School in 1952 where he had fond memories of being an avid player on the golf team. He then entered the sheet metal trade where he served as a journeyman and steward. He had a dedicated career encompassing 40 years with the Hawaii Sheet Metal Workers IA Union Local 293. He enjoyed sports especially golf and UH games. Harry was a man of few words but his actions were always heartfelt with integrity. He is survived by his wife Gilda Miyashiro, son Travis Miyashiro and daughter-in-law Nelda Miyashiro, daughter Lois Miyashiro-Tong and son-in-law Robert Tong, 4 sisters Violet Ono, June Miyasato, Lilly Kimura, Ruth Fujioka and brother-in law Edward Fujioka, sister-in-law Elsie Miyashiro, 3 grand children Andromeda Tong (9), Teiji Miyashiro (6), Kyra Tong (2), nieces and nephews. Services will be on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Visitation at 2:30pm, service at 3:30pm. Casual attire. Flowers welcome. Burial on Monday, March 10, 2014, 10:30am at Oahu Cemetery.
