Edmund Francis "Denny" Austen, 85, of Hilo, formerly of Pearl City, a retired oil field sales representative, former commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3875 and an Army Air Corps veteran, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by daughters Sherry A. Black, Barbara J. Austen, Jacqueline Sauceda and LaDonna M.K. Finchman; brother Wilby G.; sister Kanani Donahue; and a grandchild. Visitation: 9 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo. Mass: 10 a.m. Casual attire.
