Juan Norberto Nieves, 79, of Kailua, a transit authority mechanic and an Army veteran, died in Honolulu. He was born in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico. He is survived by wife Sonia, sons Ralphael and Daniel Alvarez, daughters Ibet H. Nieves and Michelle A. Hughes, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
