TENEY KUNIO TAKAHASHI
4-3 TENEY KUNIO TAKAHASHITENEY KUNIO TAKAHASHI Passed on March 22, 2014, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is survived by his wife, Mae Takahashi and his son Teney Kei Takahashi; his brother Patrick (Wendy) Takahashi; and his sister Gloria Miyashiro. Teney was raised in Waianae and graduated from Iolani School. In 1956, he was nominated as a candidate to the United States Air Force Academy by Mrs. Joseph R. Farrington, Delegate to Congress from the Territory of Hawaii. Shortly thereafter, Teney was appointed to the third class of the Academy. In 1961, Teney became the first appointee from Hawaii to graduate from the United States Air Force Academy. After completing his pilot training at Webb Air Force Base in Texas, Teney served as a pilot in the United States Air Force. After serving his country, Teney became a successful real estate business executive in Hawaii. He played a lead role in the development of the Kaanapali Beach Resort on Maui, and was widely respected by his peers and counterparts in government and the community. Teney served as the President of Amfac Property Investment Corp. and Amfac Property Development Corp., President of Malama Pacific (a subsidiary of Hawaiian Electric Industries), and President of Princeville Corp. He later worked as a senior executive at Amfac JMB Hawaii. Teney also worked for the Hawaii Community Development Authority as its chief planner. Services will be held on April 6 at St. Alban's Chapel, Iolani School. Visitation begins at 3:30pm and service to follow at 4:30pm.
