Hiroo Kaya, 83, of Aiea, a U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration retiree, a former sports writer and an Army veteran, died in Kuakini Medical Center. He was born in Lahaina. He is survived by wife Esther W., sons Roderick and Bradley, sisters Frances Sato and Chooko Shackett, and four grandchildren. Visitation: 6 p.m. Thursday at Mililani Downtown Mortuary. Services: 6:30 p.m.
