LOIS COLEYLOIS COLEY Lois Coley died at home November 1, 2014, in Grass Valley, CA, following a brief illness. Interment will be at Punchbowl Cemetery in Honolulu on April 14, where Lois will join her husband, Captain V. J. (Jack) Coley, USN (Ret), who died in 2001. (Ceremony details: 530-305-0531.) Lois was born February 10, 1918, to Clarence T. Stevenson of the Stockton Police Department and the former Alice Howie Crozier of Honolulu. Her father went on to federal law enforcement and served as warden of Oahu Prison during the 1940s. Lois grew up in Honolulu where she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1936. She attended Mills College and the University of Washington. She returned to Honolulu and was working for Hawaiian Electric Company when Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7, 1941. Her brother, Campbell W. Stevenson had a long career with Cooke Trust and First Hawaiian Bank in Honolulu. Lois met her husband in early 1942, when he was a naval aviator stationed at Kaneohe Naval Air Station, where he had survived the December 7th attack. Lois accompanied Jack to many duty stations as he served 20 years in the Navy. Following military service, they lived in Granada Hills, CA, until Jack's 1978 retirement from Lockheed brought them to Grass Valley. Lois was a member of Daughters of Hawaii and the PEO Sisterhood. She is survived by her son Jay and wife Anita, daughter Karen Bridger and husband Bill, all of Nevada City, CA, and daughter Lisa Hofmann and husband Wolfgang of Germany. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Meredith Coley, Allison Bridger Rackley and husband Robert, Amanda Bridger and husband Bradley Burger, and Oliver and Jessica Hofmann.
