WILLIAM JAMES BENNETTWILLIAM JAMES BENNETT William James "Bull" Bennett, 75, died April 4. He was born August 16, 1938 in Fairfield, Alabama, moved to Honolulu with his family in 1940 and was a 1956 graduate of Punahou Academy. He served three years in the United States Navy. In 1963, he joined the Honolulu Police Department, retiring in 1998 at the rank of Major, Wahiawa District. His daughter Cassandra joined HPD in 1997. Bennett was part of a long, unbroken line of William Bennetts. His father was William D. He continued the tradition, naming his son William Terence, who later named his son William Gregory. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, a member of the Blue Knights and the Ex-Solo Bike club. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marietta (Hunt) Bennett; son, Terry Bennett; daughter, Cassandra Bennett Huihui; daughter-in-law, Sheila Bennett; son-in-law, Eliot Huihui; grand- children, Greg Bennett and Ashley Camacho-San Agustin, and Ashley's husband, Nick San Agustin. Visitation is 9-11 am, Thursday, April 17 at Borthwick Mortuary, 1330 Maunakea St. A memorial service will begin at 11 am. Online condolences may be left at borthwickoahu.com.
