74James C. "Jim" Carter, 82, of Lihue, a Varian Associates engineer and project manager and developer of its Clinac radiation machines, died. He was born in Tucson, Ariz. He is survived by wife Reanna; sons Bill and Chris; daughter Carrie Clark; brothers Bill, Grayson and Clay; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. April 26 at Lihue United Church. Services: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery. Donations suggested to Lihue United Church.
