STUART WAKATSUKISTUART WAKATSUKI Dr. Stuart Kazuo Wakatsuki, 48, passed away peacefully at Castle Medical Center on March 11, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Stuart was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and graduated from Punahou School. He received a B.A. in Animal Physiology from the University of California San Diego and an M.D. from the Saint Louis University Medical School. He completed his residency at the University of Missouri Kansas City and a foot and ankle fellowship at Allegheny University in Philadelphia. In 1997, he returned to Hawaii and began practice as an orthopaedic surgeon at Windward Orthopaedic Group. For the past 17 years, Stuart lived in Kailua and worked out of Castle Medical Center. He was also a Kaneohe State Hospital consulting physician, an Assistant Clinical Professor for the University of Hawaii Orthopaedic Residency Training Program, and a volunteer physician with the Kailua High School football program. In September 2010, Stuart was diagnosed with colon cancer. For the next three and a half years Stuart continued to see his patients, support his family and enjoy life with his family and many friends while undergoing a continuous regimen of chemotherapy. He is survived by his wife Myssi and their two sons, Perry and Brady and other daughters Dany and Katelind, granddaughter Avery, and other sons Alex and MJ from wife Myssi, mother Irene Wakatsuki, sisters Janie Karp and Cora Jim On and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Stuart was blessed to have so many friends, colleagues, players and patients that loved and supported him throughout his life and illness. A private service and celebration of his life were held in March.
