HIROSHI AZEKAHIROSHI AZEKA Age 82 of Hanalei, HI passed away April 2, 2014 at home. Born on July 21, 1931 in Hanalei, HI. He retired as the Director of Facilities Services from Kauai Community College. He also worked as a Building Inspector for the State of Hawaii. After retirement he farmed taro in Waipa Valley. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he earned his Purple Heart. He was very active in many organizations such as the Kauai County Farm Bureau, Korean War Veterans, Hanalei Nihon jin kai. He was the Project Manager in the building of the Kauai Veteran's Center in Lihue and a Veteran dedicated to community service. He is survived by daughters Lynn (Robert) Hatke of Seattle, Fran (Karl) Miyake of Kapaa and Faye (Chris) Neves of Honolulu; granddaughter Aedan Azeka; sister Ayame Katsumoto of Honolulu, brother Clifford Azeka of Honolulu, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial Services will be held on May 17, 2014 at Kapaa Hongwanji at 2:00pm. Casual attire is suggested. Internment will be at a later date at Hanalei Japanese Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
