ALVIN K. S. LEONG Alvin Kwock Sun Leong, a kind, generous and gregarious person, foodie who loved to cook, harmonica player and sports fan (especially of his children and grandchildren), died on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. He was 89. Most important to "Al" (or "Dugan," for those who knew him during his career), were his family, food (and lots of it, especially when he was the cook), sports (in which his children or grandchildren participated and Univ. of Hawaii and Punahou sports), engaging in conversation with strangers (especially tourists), dancing, and harmonica playing. In his younger days, he was a spectacular yo-yo player. He played a rockin` harmonica, by ear. Al retired after working as an identification clerk at OCCC and for the State of Hawaii. He was a past-president of the Leong Soong Duck Tong and a member of the Bingham Tract Broncos. Al is survived by his children: Liane (Randall) Murch, Donna (Robin Uyeshiro), Craig (Miyo Yamamoto), and Brenda (Samuel) Beadles; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; companion Shirley Atkin of Pella, Iowa; sister Eloise; and brother Edmund. Al requested a Rock-N-Roll Send-Off! Wednesday, May 21, 2014, Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel. Visitation 9:30-10:15; Service 10:15; lunch to follow. Private burial. He asked everyone to be happy - so in his honor, Wear Happy Colors! No flowers. The family thanks Dr. Glenn Uto, who gave Al the best last 10 years he could have asked for, and Al's kind and patient caregivers: Kristell, Emy, Lynne, Marcie and Kim. Aloha `Oe Kung Kung!
