Josephine "Aunty Jo" Barney, 87, of Kailua-Kona, a seamstress for Kumu Etua Lopes' halau and Kumu Wayne's halau, a homemaker, lau hala weaver, hula dancer and community volunteer, died in Kona Community Hospital. She was born in Kealakekua, Hawaii. She is survived by sons Cirilo Jr. and Edward Rosario, and Michael Barney; daughters Lorraine Kono-Brophy, Mary Shannon, Shirley-Hauoli Yamaguchi and Annette Rodrigues; brother Joseph Palacat; sister Carmen Comer; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Celebration of life: 9:30 a.m. May 31 at Hulihe'e Palace. Services: 10 a.m. Fellowship and refreshments: 11:30 a.m.
