FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

HAROLD SHINJI YONENAKA
5-23 HAROLD YONENAKAHAROLD SHINJI YONENAKA 92, of Kaaawa, a retired Chevron fuel distributor, died in Castle Medical Center on May 7. Born and raised in Punaluu Valley, he enlisted in the Army during WWII and traveled to the mainland for interpreter training. Returning to Hawaii at the war's end, he pitched in local baseball leagues and soon caught the eye of Edith Anzai and they married in 1952. In addition to his family, Harold was devoted to fishing. After Edith's death in 1994, his activities focused on ceramics and gardening. Gregarious and generous, he was proud that his ceramic creations were appreciated by family and friends not just throughout the islands but as far away as Tokyo and New York. He is survived by a sister, Sarah, his son, Lloyd, his daughter, Ada, and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. on May 30 at Hawaiian Memorial Park. No flowers.
