MICHAEL ZYDEL
MICHAEL ZYDEL Mike Zydel came to Hawaii for a vacation and never left. The people, the climate, the ocean, he found beauty in them all. He was home. Born May 19, 1931 in Toledo Ohio to Felix and Stella (Gralak) Zydel, he died on May 21, 2014. The youngest of 5 children, Mike's brothers Billy and John predeceased him. Mike's older siblings, Daniel Zydel and Virginia Vivaldi survive along with 5 nieces and nephews and their families. Upon completing high school, Mike proudly served his country in the USAF in WW II. Honorably discharged, he took advantage of the GI Bill to continue his education. Mike won many national sales awards for the Champion Spark Plug Co. A long time member of Alcoholics Anonymous, a program that "saved his life" Mike believed in and practiced, the core values of this program every day. He shared the gift of sobriety with others by sponsoring and supporting them on their own path to recovery. Mike's family would like to thank all of his friends, for their Aloha as he starts this latest journey to his final home. Mike was a better man because of each of you. Mike donated his body to the John Burns Medical Center's, "Willed Body Donation Program". You are encouraged to celebrate his life by sending a donation to St. Jude's Hospital for Children or to the Shriner Hospital for Children.
