RAYMOND RIYOSO NOSAKA Age 98 years, was born in Honolulu on June 1, 1916. He died on Saturday, June 14, 2014. He also played guitar and ukulele and sang too. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1935. He was Golden Gloves. He won the boxing flyweight title while at Camp Shelby. Drafted in 1940, he was assigned to the 298th Regiment Hawaii National Guard E Company at Schofield Barracks. He was on guard duty on December 7, 1941. He was activated to what became known as the 100th Infantry Battalion Separate. On July 22, 1943, he and Aki were married in New York City, with some of his buddies at his side. He was Honorably Discharged from the Army and in 1944 he and Aki traveled back to Honolulu. He received the Purple Heart, Bonze Medal and Congressional Gold Medal. He was an agent for the IRS for 23 years and then a counselor for the VA for 7 years before he retired from the federal government. He then went on to work for the state as a social worker and retired from there. He is survived by wife, Aki, three children, Patti Osebold, Ann Kabasawa, Jonathan Nosaka, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He and Aki have been married for 70 years. There will be a celebration of life gathering at 100th Infantry Battalion Club House on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 2-5pm. Parking at Ala Wai School.
