KATHLEEN BOCKLAGE "KIT/TUTU" WHYTE
KATHLEEN BOCKLAGE KIT/TUTU WHYTE Age 85, died at Queens Hospital on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Born September 9, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, she lived a military life in many places before settling on the North Shore of Oahu. Dearest wife of the late Capt. James Darst Whyte, U.S. Navy. Dear sister of Julianne Walker, Jeannette Russo, and Vincent P. Bocklage and the late Richard F Bocklage, Mary Jane Lartonoix & Betty Ann LaBarge. Kit attended Fontbonne University in St. Louis and studied art, a passion that she shared throughout her life. She lost her beloved husband in 1975 due to an accident and never remarried. Kit started a military widows support group to help others at that time. She has friends all over the country and was fond of maintaining her network the old fashioned way by writing letters. Survivors include her daughter Rachel Sher (Derrick) and sons Richard Whyte (Marina), Stephen Whyte (Nancy), Sean Whyte (Amy), Michael Whyte (Ignez) and James D. Whyte Jr. She was very proud of her grandchildren Tara Vetro, Kinan Whyte, Mayan Whyte, Karlie Whyte, Kala Whyte, Tanner Whyte, Moona Whyte, and Zoe Kathleen Sher. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 1PM, where Kit will be interred with her husband in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at the Punchbowl Cater. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service.
