Florence Kiyoko KamimuraFLORENCE KIYOKO KAMIMURA Florence Kiyoko Kamimura, 90, passed peacefully at her Aiea home on June 17, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Koloa, Kauai, Florence's great passions in life were taking memorable trips to Las Vegas, spending time with friends, and especially golfing. Over the course of her 70+ years devoted to the sport, she garnered the respect of many professional and amateur golfers alike -- even quitting her job for two years to tour the country with friends and savor the nation's finest courses, and taking many lessons from famed local golfer Guinea Kop. Her tutelage under Kop led her to place highly in several golf tournaments over the decades. Her passion extended to her professional life as well -- she spent many years as an employee of Ala Wai Pro Shop. Her incredibly active spirit lasted even to her final moments -- even before her passing, Florence still caught the bus nearly every day en route to her active social life, and maintained heavy exercise twice a week with Pau Hana Pumpers. Her 90th birthday was celebrated with two truly special gatherings. Her energy and effusiveness for life truly lasted until the end; nothing stopped her. Florence is survived by her siblings: Charles (Hatsue) Kamimura, Alice (Fidel) Salcido & Eugene Kamimura, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews: Charing Riolo-O'Shea, Debbie Michaels, Rochelle Antolin, Ryan Michaels, Quinton Montes, Lindsay Michaels, and Ezekiel Kaleo. Services will be held June 27, 2014 (Friday) at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Visitation begins at 2:00 PM and the service itself at 3:00. Casual attire encouraged, flowers are welcome.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
