GILBERT SAM GIL GILLY ASAM Age 85, of Honolulu, passed away June 5, 2014 in Honolulu. Born August 1, 1928 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Second son of Robert Asam Sr. and Jane Oi Lum Asam. Sam retired with 25 years from the United States Army and also retired from the United States Postal Service. He is a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Honolulu Chapter 3, Veterans of Foreign Wars Hawaii Post 2875 and American Legion Hawaii Post 17. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Vietnamese Honor Medal. He is survived by wife, Dolina Kalani Kai Asam; daughters, Jeannie Jones, Leona (Billy) Malama, Nanette K. Asam; brother, James (Donna) Asam; sisters, Pearl Yang, Myra Trombly; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great- great-grandson. Visitation 9:00 a.m. Sunday 6/29 at Mililani Downtown Mortuary, Service 10:00 a.m. Committal Service 10:00 a.m. Wednesday 7/2 at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery. Flowers Welcome. Casual/Aloha Attire.
