Edward Torao Kanaya, 90, of Honolulu, a retired Washington Middle School band director, Honolulu Symphony flautist and an Army veteran who served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II, died in Las Vegas. He was born in Waialua. He is survived by wife Betty A., son David M., daughter Wendy E. Ichiyama, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Private services.
