71Richard "Ricky" Grigg, 77, of Honolulu, a professor emeritus of oceanography and a big-wave surfer, died at home. He was born in Santa Monica, Calif. He is survived by wife Maria, daughters Raina and Romy, stepson Mark Monroe, stepdaughter Juliana Chaize, and a grandchild. Celebration of life: 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at Outrigger Canoe Club, 2901 Kalakaua Ave. Scattering of ashes: 9:30 a.m. in front of the club. Aloha attire. Surfers welcome to paddle out from Kaimana Beach.
