ELIZABETH NAEKO (MIYAHIRA) CHANGELIZABETH NAEKO (MIYAHIRA) CHANG July 09, 1935 June 28, 2014 Known in the Hawaiian community as "Aunty Betty", passed away peacefully at her San Jose home with family by her side. Aunty Betty was born in Kapaa, Kauai. Preceding her in passing were her parents Matsu and Kanaa Miyahira; brothers Toshio, Kenneth, Nelson, Samuel, Paul and sister Dora. She is survived by her loving husband of over 60 yrs., Vernon; son Roderick (Margaret); daughters Rochelle Ledwith (Steven), and Renee Moreno (Adrian). Grandchildren, Cassandra, Stuart, Rowan, Rebekah, and Ariana. Brothers, Harry and Richard Miyahira and sister, Aiko Miyahira, numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, grand- nephews, and grandnieces. Aunty Betty spent many happy years caring for her family, was a founding member of Polynesia Polynesia!, active with St. Philips Episcopal Church, and loved to volunteer and participate in events and charities within the Hawaiian community. A private family service was held in San Jose. Visitation 9:00 a.m. on Thursday (July 17) at Nu'uanu Memorial Park & Mortuary, service 10:00 a.m., committal service 11:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl). A celebration of life will be held in San Jose at a later date. Aloha or casual attire is recommended.
