JANET SECHIYO SHIBATA Age 88, of Honolulu, died peacefully at Arcadia Retirement Residence on July 14, surrounded by her family. Janet was born on July 6, 1926 and raised in Kula, Maui. She was the 7th of 9 children of a farming family. Soon after graduating from Maui High School, she came to Honolulu, where she met and married Kenichi Shibata, who worked as a civil engineer for the State of Hawaii and predeceased her after 56 years of marriage. Janet worked in the jewelry industry for many years, rising to manager of Security Diamond and Conrad Jewelers and ending her career at the Jewel Gallery at Liberty House. She is survived by her daughter, Koren (Nick) Dreher; her sister, Doris; her twin grandsons, Robert (Dana) and David Kubota and grandchild, Gabrielle "Gabby" Kubota. She also leaves behind many friends and extended family who remember what a kind, humble and caring person she always was. Private services held.
