SABINA RIVERA ANCHETA
9-7 Sabina Rivera Ancheta .SABINA RIVERA ANCHETA Sabina Rivera Ancheta of Honolulu, passed away of Thursday August 21, 2014. Sabina was preceded in death by her husband Brigido Salacup Ancheta in 1996 and 3 sisters, Marcelina Agcaoili, Felising Agbunag, Premitiva Ibana and 5 brothers, Gelacio (Bill) Rivera, Mario Rivera, Celestino Rivera, William B. Rivera and Angel Rivera. Sabina (Sally) was born in Vintar Ilicos Norte P.I. on September 5th, 1923, to Pancracia Bernandino and Telesforo Rivera. After WWII Sabina, and her daughter Lucita Rivera Ancheta, joined her husband Brigido in Moloa, Kauai. Later The Ancheta's moved to Honolulu. Sally loved to Bowl and Dance and performed with other Arthur Murray dancers. Her home was filled with many bowling and dancing trophies. She was a co-owner of the Paradise Tavern on Beretania St. behind the old Aala Park, in the early 1960's. She traveled the world including Russia, Germany, Paris, China and other locations in the Far East. Her favorite destination to visit was Las Vegas, where she and her bowling gang traveled several times a year. Her favorite game of chance was rolling the dice (Craps). She was loved by her family and friends, due to her gregarious personality and generous nature. Sally participated in many Filipino community activities and, in 1961 she won a free trip to visit the Philippines as the winner of the Mrs. Filipina contest. She is survived by her daughter Lucita Ancheta Ashley (Rick), grandchildren Dale Ancheta, Francisco Pizarro, Maria-Sabina Pizarro and Christina Ancheta. Great grandchildren, Erik Ancheta, Jasmine Pizarro, Brooke Taylor Pizarro, Phillip Ancheta Roebuck, Jhordan Pizarro and Jhenna Pizarro . The celebration of Sally's life will be held at the Hawaiian Memorial Park on September 15, 2014, from 5:30 to 9:00pm. with light refreshments to follow. On September 16th. at 9:30am, there will be the last viewing and a short program, followed by a mass at 11:00am in St. Theresa Co-Cathedral, located at 712 N. School St. Honolulu, Hi. 96817.
