Born on February 12, 1927 in Hilo, Hawaii, he was a retired carpenter for Hirata Builders. Preceded in death by wife, Lily Hirata, he is survived by daughters, Ann Cowels, Donna (Bill Bigay) Hirata; son, Guy (Jodie) Hirata; sister, Beatrice (John) Hoshino; grandchildren, Nicole Hirata, Kevin Cowels, Matthew Cowels, and Guysen; and great granddaughter, Kiare Nako. Visitation 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Service at 11:00 a.m. Casual attire. Private inurnment.
