Alden Ian Avery, 93, of Kailua, a retired instrument certifier for the Federal Aviation Administration and a retired Air Force colonel, died in Kailua. He was born in Natick, Mass. He is survived by son Mark, daughters Ann Havens and Alexandra Avery, and three grandchildren. Inurnment: 10:30 a.m. Oct. 6 at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl.
