Chris John Andrews
10-4 675240 Chris AndrewsCHRIS JOHN ANDREWS Age 60, of Waikiki, passed away peacefully at home on October 8, 2013 after a brave battle with cancer. Chris was born and raised in Vaimosa, Western Samoa. Chris was an entertainer, musician and Samoan fire-knife dancer who performed in Japan, Guam, Spain, Canada, mainland USA and Hawaii and also traveled to Norway and Germany. His friends called him "Mr. Aloha" because of his love of life and welcoming personality. Countless tourists and neighbors became friends due to his big smile and "Hi. Where are you from?" He was interested whether they said California or Waipahu. He is survived by his partner, Joy Buckland, his beloved children; daughters Tuitogamatoe Andrews-Long, Beverly Lome-Andrews, son Chris (Kilisi) Andrews; and son-in-law Chris Long; his sisters, Ilove'a Willis, Seutatia Perlini Andrews, Elizabeth Lauina Andrews- Ordonio and Ali'itasi Smith, his brothers Tappy Andrews, Pita Viliamu and Richard Andrews. He is also survived by dear grandchildren, Silupevaelei Andrews-Long and Tyler Andrews. Chris was predeceased by his brother Ronnie John Andrews and sisters Perelini and Queenie Andrews. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Our thanks are extended to the staff at Leahi Adult Day Health for their loving assistance to Chris during his last 7 years. And to the doctors and nurses at Queen's, especially to Julia Joyce and Dr. Fischberg of the Palliative Care Dept. for their compassionate help to the family. Thanks also go out to Julie Tanaka and nurse Dragana of St. Francis Hospice for their kind support for the last two months of Chris's life. Celebration of Life: October 11th from noon until 3:00 at Fort DeRussy by the racketball courts. Family and friends are welcome to share memories and music. Scattering of ashes at sea to follow.
