JEANNETTE 'BENJI' BENNINGTONJEANNETTE 'BENJI' BENNINGTON Benji Bennington died on August 30 at the age of 80, in St. Paul, MN, where she had been living since her retirement from the East-West Center in Honolulu. Over a span of nearly five decades, she had worked at the EWC in a variety of posts, the dearest to her heart being EWC's Arts Curator. Her life truly manifested the Center's goal of "increasing understanding between East and West." She was extremely knowledgeable about the arts of the Asia Pacific region, and delighted in sharing her knowledge with the people of Hawai`i and beyond. Benji was born in Cleveland, OH, on August 17, 1934; received her B.A. in Fine Arts from Western Reserve University; and her M.A. in Overseas Operations from UH-Manoa. A memorial celebration of life will be held at the EWC Gallery, 1601 East-West Road, at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18.
