Edwin Rowland "Ed" James, 68, of Kurtistown, Hawaii, a technical director, lighting designer, production manager and co-owner of MDI Productions, and a Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Berkeley, Calif. He is survived by wife Pam, son Matthew, stepmother Ruth, brother Charles and sisters Dianne Skinner and Mary Lewis.
