CHARLOTTE BECKER (BECKY) CONNABLE Passed away on September 2, 2014. Born in Berkeley, California, on January 31, 1915, Becky grew up in Berkeley and in Atherton, California, and graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Art. She married her college classmate, Harold ("Hal") M. Connable, who preceded her in death in 1986. Becky raised her three children in Honolulu, Hawaii, instilling in them, and in her grandchildren, a love ofeducation, travel, art, music, and hospitality. Becky designed the signs and apparel for Dwight D. Eisenhower's presidential campaign in California as well as the campaign aloha shirts and muumuus for Hawaii's Governor William F. Quinn. She was President of the Honolulu Symphony from 1961-1963 and was active on the Boards of the Hawaii Opera, Kaahumanu Society, Hawaii Watercolor Society, and Stanford Alumni Association. Becky was also a member of the Outrigger Canoe Club, the Waialae Country Club, the Oahu Country Club, and one of the oldest members of the Menlo Circus Club in Atherton, California. A timeless beauty and fun to be with, Becky was the quintessential "hostess with the mostest" and welcomed many into her Kahala, Hawaii, home with warm aloha. Becky's roots go back to the owners of the Kennedy Gold Mine in Jackson, California, and the Rennie Brothers Winery (now the Flora Springs Winery) of Napa County, California. "No wonder I like to drink and spend money," she once laughed. Becky was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynne S. Connable. She is survived by her son, Alfred Bruce Connable, of Snowmass, Colorado, and her daughter, Laurie L. Connable, of Hilo, Hawaii, and by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Becky's Life is planned for the summer of 2015 in Honolulu.
