HELEN S. TANONAKA HASHIMOTO
HELEN S. TANONAKA HASHIMOTO Helen S. Tanonaka Hashimoto, beloved wife, mother and friend, died October 19, 2014, after a long illness. She passed peacefully in her home with her family, as she had wished. Helen was born October 30, 1933, in Honolulu, where she grew up and graduated from Roosevelt High School. After attending the University of Hawaii, she moved to San Francisco and married Richard Hashimoto, also of Honolulu. Together, they would raise three children, and their work lives would take them from San Francisco to Sacramento and San Mateo, Calif., and back to Honolulu, before they moved to Dallas in 1971. They were enthusiastic bowlers, and together enjoyed frequent trips to Shreveport to try their luck in the casinos. Prior to her twenty-five year career at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Dallas, where she made many long-time friends before retiring in 2005, Helen was as an avid tennis player at Kiest Park in Oak Cliff. She also enjoyed attending Neil Diamond concerts and Broadway shows and watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks. In addition, Helen was a talented seamstress and cook, and she loved animals. She is survived by her husband, Richard Hashimoto of Dallas; her children and their loved ones, Michael Hashimoto and Jacquielynn Floyd of Flower Mound, Texas, Erin and Bill Hankins of Fulton, Md., and Kathleen Hashimoto and Hans Kwiotek of San Francisco; a brother, James Tanonaka of Lahaina, Maui; a sister, Doris Shiraishi of Honolulu; and another brother and his wife, Derrick and Sun Cha Tanonaka of Honolulu. There will be no services, and the family thanks her many friends and former co-workers for their kind thoughts and warm condolences.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
