Geraldine Mary KamakaGERALDINE MARY KAMAKA Gerry passed away surrounded with family on September 8th at home in Kane'ohe at the age of 85. She was born in Alexandria, Minnesota on April 20, 1929 to Leo and Iva Barthelemy. Gerry was a 1951 Graduate of the College of St Catherine's in Minnesota where she earned a BA in Occupational Therapy. She served in the Army Medical Specialist Corps for two years at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC and Letterman Hospital in San Francisco. Upon moving to Hawaii she was employed at the State Hospital in Kane'ohe as an Occupational Therapist. She met Samuel Kamaka Jr. and together continued building the family business of creating the finest ukuleles. They were married for 58 years, their union produced a legacy of love that will never end. Gerry was a devoted Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunty, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend to everyone, blessing us all with her beautiful smile. A devout member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Kane'ohe for over 50 years. She is survived by her loving husband Samuel Kaiali'ili'i Kamaka Jr.; Sons Christopher (Ranette) Kamaka, Casey (Victoria) Kamaka, Kelly (Mahina) Kamaka; Daughters Katy (Thomas) Gambino, Polly (David) Taylor, Malia Kamaka, Jennifer (Jon) Concepcion; Sister Patricia Perdue; 17 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 1st at St. Ann Catholic Church in Kane'ohe. Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm which will include a time of sharing Gerry's favorite songs and her life story, mass will begin at 12:00 pm.
