FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

YOUNG TAIK CHUN
YOUNG TAIK CHUN Young Taik Chun, 91, was born in Ookala on the Big Island on December 21, 1922. His family moved to Lanai when he was 14 years old and he graduated from Lanai High School. During World War II, he fought for the U.S. Army in the Central Europe and Rhineland campaigns, and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal in combat against the enemy. He attained the rank of Corporal before being honorably discharged after the war. He spent most of his career working at Pearl Harbor retiring from the Defense Property Disposal Region, Pacific in the Chief of Sales Office, Hawaii as Supervisory Property Marketing Specialist. While working full-time and raising a family, he attended the University of Hawaii, Manoa and became one of its first graduates exclusively attending night-school when he received his BBA degree in 1958. He is survived by his sons Stewart and Westley Chun, daughter Melissa Peterson, six grandchildren, and younger brother Young Sup (Archie) Chun. Private services will be held at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
