G. EVERETT SPRING December 23, 1928 - April 9, 2013 George Everett "Ev" Spring, born on Oahu December 23, 1928, to Percy George and Rose Norma Spring died in Seattle, Washington on April 9, 2013, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. He graduated from St. Louis College in 1947, and received a BS in Ceramic Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1951. As a member of the U.S. Marines he served in Korea, the Philadelphia Navy Yard and the reserves. rising to rank of Captain. He married Allison Wiedorn, they divorced in 1963. Ev returned to Oahu in 1964, as branch manager for Owens Corning. He received an MBA in Finance from the University of Hawaii. In 1969, he married Gretchen Van Iderstine and in 1972 started GESCO Sales and Supply, moving family and business to Maui in 1976. Ev was active in the Maui Chamber of Commerce, serving two terms as president; taught classes at Chaminade University, Maui Campus, and the University of Phoenix. He was named a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Ev patented and marketed a leak detection system for underground storage tanks. He is survived by his brother Tom Spring S.M., wife Gretchen, son Everett (Kathy) and their children, Chelsea, Nolan, Garrett, Trevor and Colin; son Paul; daughter Anni and her son Karl; son Tony (Carol); son Alan (Laura) and their children Meghan and Evan; and son Scott (Sonjia) and their daughter Antonia. A private graveside service was held at Diamond Head Memorial Park November 22, 1914.
